Abstract The purpose of this Regulation is to set regulations to protect vulnerable marine ecosystems, and applies to deep-sea gear fishing activities by Norwegian vessels in areas outside the jurisdiction of any State (international waters) in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean north of 36 degrees and between 42 degrees west and 51 degrees east. Detailed fishing areas are listed under article 3. Vessels shall for each catch estimate the quantity indicators on vulnerable marine ecosystems, such as live corals and living sponge.
