Abstract This Law, as in accordance with Directive 2009/128/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 October 2009 establishing a framework for Community action to achieve the sustainable use of pesticides (as last amended by Corrigendum to Directive 2009/128/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 October 2009 establishing a framework for Community action to achieve the sustainable use of pesticides), regulates the placing on the market and use of plant protection products (or PPPs), and determines the National Action Plan for attaining the sustainable use of PPPs, training in PPPs, the inspection of pesticide application equipment, the specific measures regarding the use of PPPs, informing the public as regards PPPs, the professional, expert and research tasks involving PPPs, data collection, data gathering and use of data, the laboratories, penalty provisions, and powers of the authorities responsible for implementing this Act and official control of its implementation and regulations based thereon. This Act further regulates the authorization and granting of permits for PPPs, fees, and the management of record keeping concerning the placing on the market and use of PPPs in implementing Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 October 2009 concerning the placing of plant protection products on the market and repealing Council Directives 79/117/EEC and 91/414/EEC. The aims of this Act are to ensure that PPPs are used in a manner that facilitates the development of sustainable and competitive agriculture, to ensure a high level of protection of human and animal health and of the environment, to institute mandatory integrated pest management, and to promote alternative approaches to pest control and techniques thereof. Aerial spraying by aircraft shall be prohibited (article 31).
