Abstract

No plant shall be imported into Zanzibar without a permit obtained from the Director of Agriculture (sect. 2). The Director of Agriculture may specify in an Order published in the Official Gazette any plant or class of plant for the purposes of establishing a special regime of importation for those plants or class of plants (sect. 2(2)). Plants shall only imported through declared ports (sect. 4). If not exempted, plants shall be examined by and inspector (sect. 5). The inspector has certain powers with respect to the treatment of plants found to be infected (sect. 6). The Director of Agriculture may order quarantaine for imported plants (sect. 9). The First Schedule specifies plants subject to import control. (11 sections and 2 Schedules)
