Abstract This Order sets rules on protection and hunting of walrus (Odobenus rosmarus) in Greenlandic land and fishing territory. It applies to the quota and total allowable catch thereof which are determined by international agreements, biological advice, user knowledge and by consulting the Hunting Council on the base of gender, age and geographic areas. Licence for hunting this species is granted according to applicants' residence status. Aircraft, helicopters and motor vehicles, including snowmobiles and boats over 20 BRT may not be used during hunting activities or for transportation to/from hunting areas. Permitted hunting weapon is rifle with a minimum legal caliber of 6.30 (7.62 mm). Only full mantel ammunition is permitted while full-and semi-automatic rifles are not allowed.
