Abstract The Order aims to protect hunting activities of beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas) and narwhals (Monodon Monoceros) in Greenland. There are special provisions for access to the National Park in North and East Greenland and Nature Reserve in Melville Bay. These species are considered endangered and therefore hunting of their newborns and females is not allowed. The Government sets an annual quota for the catch of white and narwhal whales although separate restrictions apply to different areas. There are no allowances for East Greenland, however persons holding a valid professional or / and recreational hunting permit may hunt white- and narwhal whales there without quota restrictions.
