The Order sets regulations on saltwater aquaculture and mariculture fish. Its purpose is to ensure standards for the implementation of special production of fish feed, and applies to individuals and companies that own aquaculture facilities. Saltwater and aquaculture activities listed in Appendix 2 of the Decree on approval of listed activities apply. When breeding fish in saltwater it is only permitted to use dry feed and soft pellets. Dust content thereof may not exceed 1%. The Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark may, in specific cases and procedures, allow compliance with the feed types as part of the implementation of special productions that require additional food, or of experimentation with different types of feed.
