Abstract The Act aims to ensure appropriate and biologically sound exploitation of hunting resources and applies to conservation and hunting of caribou (Rangifer tarandus). It is a protected species which can be hunt under specific criteria which include: total allowable catch based on authorized quota, season hunting permission between 15 August and 10 September, issuance of hunting permit, hunting methods restrictions, and identification tagging for catch.
