The regional phytosanitary services shall perform annual systematic checks in order to verify the presence of diabrotica. The results shall be submitted to the Central Phytosanitary Service every year. Anyone who suspects an infection must inform the competent phitosanitary service, which shall immediately carry out inspections. In case diabrotica harmful organism is found, the area concerned shall be declared outbreak site and a surrounding security area shall be defined as well. Article 5 regulates the measures to be undertaken by the competent phytosanitary service to ensure the systematic eradication of diabrotica.
