Abstract

Forest monitoring is a system of observations, assessment and forecast of the state of the public forest stock with a view of sustainable forest management, conservation, protection, reproduction of forests and improvement of the protection functions thereof. Forest monitoring shall be carried out at the national and local levels. There are the following types of forest monitoring: (a) ecological forest monitoring (related to the impact of air pollution upon forests); (b) monitoring of forest pests and diseases; (c) radiation monitoring; (d) ecological and reclamation monitoring of reclaimed forest land.
