To this end it amends some of the existing articles and adds several articles to the said Act. The Decree-Law modifies the penalties established by articles 1 and 2. It adds article 5-bis, excluding from the obligation of notification whoever is in possession of specimens of wild species listed in Annex A, Appendix I and in Annex C, Part 1 of EC Regulation No. 3626/85 of 3 December 1982, to be classified as objects for personal or domestic use. Article 5-ter empowers the Forest Officers, in collaboration with the veterinary offices at the border, to notify the number of live animals imported and the number of animals dead during each consignment. The Decree-Law modifies also the sphere of application, specifying that, apart from zoos and aquariums, the Act does not apply to protected areas and national parks. New provisions concern, inter alia: (i) the notification in case of reproduction in captivity; (ii) the inventory and marking of raw or processed hides belonging to the family of "Crocodylia"; (iii) the allocation of funds and other financial measures necessary for the implementation of the Act; (iv) the composition of the scientific commission established by article 4 of the Act.
