Abstract The present Law enforces the federal legislation on water protection. In particular, the Law regulates competences of the Canton, municipalities and operators of waste water treatment facilities. Article 2 establishes that as far as water protection is concerned the Canton works together with municipalities, neighbouring cantons and neighbouring foreign countries. The Canton informs the municipalities and others of matters affecting them and if necessary provides for cooperation.
