Abstract This Law regulates the basic principles and rules as regard the concept of cooperatives and cooperation, that is here defined as a voluntary, open and independent society run by its members, through their work and other activities or the use of its services, on the basis of commonality and mutual assistance, aimed at realize, promote and protect their individual and common economic, financial, social, educational, cultural and other needs and interests, in order to achieve the goals for which the cooperative was founded. The cooperative is based on the cooperative values: self-help, responsibility, democracy, equality, fairness and solidarity and the moral values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and care for others.
