Abstract This Law consisting of 22 articles aims at controlling wastewater discharges and drainage to public sewers. It mainly concerns the construction of sewers and sewage treatment facilities and the allowed discharges of residential, commercial, and manufacturing facilities to sewers. The Law regulates the disposal of wastewater, and liquids in general, to the sewerage networks. It specifies (i) the procedures to be followed for establishing sewerage networks, house connections, licensing procedures for connecting different establishments to the sewers and the sampling and analysis responsibilities. Article 11 establishes that liquid waste from real estate, shops, commercial and industrial establishments and public sewerage operations may be disposed of in the streams after obtaining the approval of the local authorities representing the Ministries of Health, Public works and Industry. Article 13 states that a private sewerage system may only be established with a license from the sewerage Agency.
