Abstract The present Law lays down provisions relating to hunting in the Land of Salzburg. The underlying principle is that the free living fauna is an essential part of the natural surroundings and it has to be conserved in its diversity. Its specific purpose is to conserve healthy animals in their natural living space, as well as to strengthen and secure such a space. The Law consists of 162 articles divided into 10 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Hunting grounds (2); Hunting permit and hunting examination (3); Regulation of game and operating hunting services (4); Damages caused by game and hunting (5); Protection against wild animals (6); Hunting protection service (7); Salzburg Hunting Association (8); Hunting authorities and proceedings (9); Final provisions (10).
