Abstract

The present Law lays down provisions relating to fisheries in the Land Hamburg. Waters, together with aquatic animals and plants, are parts of the natural environment and as such the living basis of human society. Quality and diversity of waters are indispensable conditions for the development, conservation and use of fish stocks to be replenished in their complete diversity. An efficient fishery must pursue on one hand the conservation of a balanced natural environment of waters both in towns and in the countryside being part of the cultural heritage, and, on the other hand, promote recreational activities. The text - consisting of 17 articles - deals with the following matters: purpose, sphere of application, contents of fishery rights, fishery lease, fishing permit, right to enter on river banks, issue and denial of fishery permit, fees, fishing examination, protection of fish, electric fisheries, common fisheries, fishing path, fishery surveillance, empowerment, penalties and entry into force.
