Abstract This Regulation, consisting of 8 Parts and seven Schedules, concerns the recreational and tourist mining for minerals, gemstones and ornamental stones. Fossicking means the search of fossicking materials in a systematic or unsystematic way on the ground’s surface or by digging with a hand tool and the collection of such material. The Regulation contains provisions on the areas in which fossicking is permitted, licences, matters related to the carrying out of the activity and on inspections and controls. Parts 5 and 6 establish: control of activities on designated fossicking land and fossicking areas and the name of the miners common is the ‘Rubyvale, Sapphire and Scrub Lead Miners Common’.
