Abstract This Act, consisting of ten Parts divided into 124 sections, concerns the recreational and tourist mining for minerals, gemstones and ornamental stones. Fossicking means the search of fossicking materials in a systematic or unsystematic way on the ground’s surface or by digging with a hand tool and the collection of such material. The Act contains provisions on the areas in which fossicking is permitted, licences, matters related to the carrying out of the activity and on inspections and controls.
