Abstract

This amendment concerns the use of antimicrobial agents in food; antimicrobial agent being defined as "any substances used to preserve food by preventing the growth of micro-rganisms." The addition of antimicrobial food is prohibited excluding where permitted by the Regulations (sect. 3). The amendment includes the addition of a "Sixth Schedule" relating to permitted antimicrobial agents that may be used and the maximum permitted proportion in each case.
