Abstract

The present Act introduces some amendments to the Environment Information Act (BGBl. I No.495/1993). The Act amends, inter alia, article 14 (1A) on the definition of “serious accident” which is - within the meaning of this Federal Act - an event such as an emission, fire, or explosion, the breaking of a dam or the release of dangerous organisms resulting from uncontrolled developments inside or outside a facility included in the present Act lead to a serious danger for human health or the environment. Moreover, article 19 concerning implementation of the Directive 2012/18/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the control of major-accident hazards involving dangerous substances, amending and subsequently repealing Council Directive 96/82/EC of 4 July 2012.
