Save for restrictions imposed by the need to keep certain information confidential, data on natural resources (air, soil, water, fauna, flora) and on pollution (waste, noise, etc.) are freely accessible to the public, who may obtain it upon oral or written application. The public may challenge refusals to supply this information. Data on the environment must also be entered in a catalogue by the Ministry of the Environment and placed at the disposal of the public for reference purposes. The data may also be published. The operators of certain polluting installations or installation posing a serious environmental risk are required to submit to the Ministry of the Environment all the information required for the purposes of assessing the ecological impact of their activities.
