Abstract

The Regulation aims to protect the quality of groundwater and surface water in drinking water catchment areas to ensure their use as drinking water and reduce the necessary treatment effort. Additionally, it establishes a risk-based approach for assessing and managing risks in drinking water catchment areas, with exceptions for smaller water extraction facilities. The text further provides for the investigation program; documentation and reporting on the assessment of the drinking water catchment area; risk management; reporting obligations of authorities; and administrative offences. The text contains 21 Articles designed in 4 Chapters as follow: General Provision (1); Assessment of Drinking Water Catchment Areas (2); Risk Management (3); and Final Provision (4).
