Abstract

This Decree has been issued by the Department of Fisheries. It provides for the issuing of a navigation certificate which will grant the holder an exemption from the duty to make use of a state pilot when navigating in waters within the Norwegian baseline in accordance with section 9 of Decree No. 1129 of 1994. The navigation certificate shall be issued by the Directorate for coast matters or a body authorized by it. A certificate may in general not be granted for the navigation of vessels carrying certain classified hazardous substances and condensed gasses (sect. 3). The remaining provisions deal, inter alia, with conditions for obtaining a certificate, procedures, validity of certificate and public control. (15 sections)
