Abstract

The Catalogue of Wastes consists of: (a) the list of groups, subgroups and types of wastes, referred to in Annex No. 1; (b) the list of hazardous characteristics of wastes according to the Basle Convention1), referred to in Annex No. 2; (c) the list of groups of wastes subject to control and the list of harmful substances according to the Basle Convention, referred to in Annex No. 3; (d) the list of criteria for the assessment of hazardous characteristics of wastes, referred to in Annex No. 4. Wastes types are defined by a six-digit number, where the first two-digit number indicates the group, the second two-digit number indicates the subgroup of the respective group, and the third two-digit number indicates the type of waste for the respective group and subgroup. Wastes are divided into the following categories: (a) hazardous wastes, denoted by capital letter ‘H’; (b) other wastes, denoted by capital letter ‘O’. In cases of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes covered by the Basle Convention, the hazardous characteristic code according to Annex No. 2 shall also be assigned to each type of hazardous wastes.
