Abstract This Decree, consisting of 12 Sections, regulates the National Policy on Waste Management, approved by Law No. 12.305. It also creates the Inter-ministerial Committee for the above mentioned National Policy and the Committee for the Logistic System. The Decree establishes norms and specifies specific requirements for the implementation of this Policy and defines composition, duties and responsibilities of the competent Committees, entitled to implement the Policy through local governmental authorities. Sanctions and penalties relating to illegal environmental activities are appended to the text.
