Abstract This Decree, consisting of 8 Chapters, approves the Regulation for the prevention of marine pollution and environmental protection of the coastal areas in order to protect the marine and fresh water ecosystems. This Regulation aims to prevent marine pollution caused by vessels, platforms, or any other polluting infrastructure which illegally perform any discharge into the waters (including inland waters), of waste waters, residues, or any polluting substance. Sanctions for illegal activity are prescribed in the text. It also specifies vessels requirements and discharge authorization if extraordinarily authorized.
