Decree No. 285 of 1999 concerning protection measures against Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever in relation with the importation of meat of ostriches from countries in Africa and Asia.

Abstract

This Decree prescribes special conditions for the importation of meat of ostriches from countries in Africa and Asia. The aim of the Decree is to prevent the spreading of Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever. Importation of meat from ostriches shall meet the criteria as laid down by Council Directive 91/494/EEC. Competent authorities in countries of origin shall see to it that animals shall be isolated and treated 14 days before slaughter. The treatment shall not leave any residues in the meat. The meat shall be accompanied by a specific health certificate.
