This Decree enters into force on the date of publication.
Abstract

This Decree regulates biotechnology activity. It consists of 9 Chapters establishing composition and competencies of the National Technical Commission for Biosafety - (CTNBio), the aims of which are: to propose the National Policy of Biosafety; to promote the development, technical and scientific progress on biosafety, according to the provisions on environmental protection; to regulate activities and projects involving construction, breeding, manipulation, use, transport, storage, trade, consumption of genetically modified organisms (GM)); to classify OGMs according to their biosafety level, etc.
