Abstract This Decree-Law, consisting of 20 articles divided into four Chapters and one Annex, approves the Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals (MPM) as a government department. It establishes the composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Ministry, entitled to perform the following activities: designing and implementing energy policy and managing mineral resources, including petroleum and other minerals; licensing and regulating mining sector, including petrochemical and refining activities. The functions of MPM are: elaborate and propose the policy and projects of legislation of the sector; establish the system of administration and sectorial management and regulate the activities of the sector; ensure Timor maximum participation in the activities of the oil and mineral resources through appropriate legal, administrative and technical instruments; promote national opportunities in the sector, in order to attract and fix the external investment established therein; monitor the implementation of the Treaties and relevant instruments; conduct the negotiation process regarding the development model of the Greater Sunrise field or other matters related to the exercise of jurisdiction in the Timor Sea, etc. Full text Portuguese Website www.legis-palop.org References - Legislation Implemented by Ministerial Order No. 36/2021 creating the Structure and Internal Regulations of the Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals.
