This Regulation came into force on 14 February 2003, with the exception of articles 17 and 20 which shall apply from 1 July 2003.
Abstract

The present Regulation establishes detailed provisions to determine the mesh size and the thickness of twine of fishing nets. It consists of five Chapters and five Annexes. Chapter I (General Provisions) lays down the definition of “active gear” and “passive gear”. Chapters II and III contain rules for determining the mesh size of active gear and passive gear respectively. Chapter IV regulates the measurement of twine thickness.
