Firstly, it widens the scope of the Directive by adding new materials and articles. Further amendments concern the use of additives for the manufacture of plastic materials and the prohibition of the use of certain substances. Moreover, this Directive amends the Annex to Directive 85/572/EEC, which lays down the list of simulants to be used for testing migration of constituents of plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs.
