The economic zone of Sweden is an area outside of the territorial boundary prescribed by the Government. The zone is limited by the demarcation lines which have been agreed upon with other States, or in absence of an agreement, the mid-line in relation to the other State. The mid-line is a line each point of which is situated at an equal distance from the nearest points on the baselines from which the breadth of Sweden's and the other State's territorial sea are measured (sect. 1). With regard to fishing in the economic zone, the Fisheries Act 1993:787 shall apply (sect. 5). Section 9 concerns marine research in the EEZ. Remaining provisions concern control and offences.
