They also prescribe the grounds on which animals or meat may be declared unfit for human consumption. Regulation 4 specifies powers of veterinary examiners for purposes of these Regulations. The slaughter of an animal which has been declared by a veterinary inspector to be unfit for slaughter for human consumption is prohibited unless the slaughter is for humane reasons.
