Abstract

Decision directed to Secretariat

The Secretariat shall: a) issue a Notification to the Parties to: i) inform Boswellia spp. range States about the in-person Boswellia meeting; and ii) request Boswellia spp. range, transit and consumer states to: A. provide the Secretariat with information relating to the industries, trade associations and stakeholders involved in and / relevant to the production and trade in Boswellia species; and B. make relevant information on national population surveys, production, harvesting, processing and trade, including any regulatory identification codes for goods, and relevant national legislation related to Boswellia species as well as case studies, as appropriate available for consideration at the Boswellia meeting; b) based on information provided by Boswellia species range, transit and consumer States, inform industries and trade associations as well as other stakeholders relevant to the trade in Boswellia spp. about the in-person Boswellia meeting, and request them to provide the organizers with information on stakeholder engagement in CITES processes and on ongoing efforts to improve the conservation and management of Boswellia spp. c) liaise with the World Customs Organization to assess the possibility of designating taxon-specific HS (Harmonized System) codes for Boswellia spp. and share any outcomes with the range States of Boswellia spp.; d) share the information gathered under paragraphs a), b), and c) with the organizers of the Boswellia meeting; and e) submit the report of the Boswellia meeting to the Plants Committee.
