Boswellia trees (Boswellia spp.)

Decision directed to Parties

Subject to available funding, Parties, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, commercial traders, and stakeholders are encouraged to: a) provide funding to the host of the Boswellia in-person meeting for the implementation of Decision 20.229; b) organize, in consultation with the Secretariat, Plants Committee and range states an in-person meeting of stakeholders of Boswellia species; to: i) exchange information among range, exporting, transit and importing States, and experts on Boswellia species in international trade; and ii) identify Boswellia species that are in international trade; c) provide financial support to enable range States who wish to participate and do not have sufficient funding to attend the meeting; d) prepare background documentation for the in-person meeting including all the information received from the notification and existing data, such as the reports on Boswellia species in information document CoP20 Inf. 28, documents PC26 Doc. 28.1 and PC26 Doc. 28.2; and e) compile a report reflecting the key findings and recommendations of the in-person meeting, including information provided by the industries relevant to the processing and trade in Boswellia spp., and share the report with the Secretariat for submission to the Plants Committee and meeting participants, including Boswellia spp. range States.
