These facilities can be located in various areas, including outside reserved lands, village lands with appropriate approval, or controlled environments. Furthermore, wildlife orphanage facilities are required to be managed by a government institution, a non-profit organization, or a collaborative effort between both. In the process of establishing these facilities, the Director General (meaning the Chief Executive of Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority) plays a crucial role, which includes overseeing and providing technical advice, receiving and evaluating applications, maintaining a registry of successful applicants, deciding on the registration of wildlife captive facilities, issuing certificates of registration and trophy dealer's licenses, assessing operator performance, supervising conservation efforts, conducting resource monitoring and inventory, monitoring animal population trends, providing guidelines for management plans, facilitating research, extension, and training, issuing permits for wildlife utilization, collaborating on wildlife quarantine facilities, and inspecting wildlife captive facilities.
