In the Act, concerns the investigation into the feasibility of carrying out the following works (a) the principal component; (b) upgrading the existing Jones weir; (c) new weirs at Barlil and Eidsvold (sect. 4), and the principal component is a new and upgraded water storage and distribution infrastructure for cane irrigation (sect. 5). An environmental impact assessment statement has to be prepared for the principal component (sect. 7). Part 3A of the Act amends the Water Resource (Burnett Basin) Plan 2000.
