Résumé

The present Law implements the Directive 2001/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the assessment of the effects of certain plans and programmes on the environment. The purpose of the Law is to ensure that in certain private and public projects, as well as plans and programmes the impact on the environment is exhaustively investigated, described and assessed and its result be taken into due consideration. The text deals with the following issues: purposes, definition of terms, sphere of application, relation to other provisions, competent authorities for environmental impact assessment, competent authorities for certain installations and transitional provisions. Four Annexes are enclosed as follows: List of projects subject to the present Law (1); Criteria for the preliminary assessment in specific cases (2); List of plans and programmes subject to the present Law (3); Criteria for the preliminary assessment of specific cases within a strategic environment impact assessment (4).
