Résumé

These Regulations, made under the Merchant Shipping Act, introduce security measures for sea-going ships and port facilities and precautionary, control and compliance measures in relation to maritime safety. The Regulations implement provisions of the IMO International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention and the International Code for the Security of Ships and of Port Facilities. The Regulations shall apply to passenger ships, large cargo ships, including oil tankers and chemical tankers, mobile offshore drilling units and port facilities. The Minister shall set security levels and, when a security threat has been identified, advise the ships concerned of the current security level. Ships shall comply with security directions given. All ships shall have a security plan that shall be submitted to the Minister. Ships shall be provided with a ship security alert system.
