Résumé

This Act introduces various measures for ensuring environmentally responsible and sustainable tourism in Palau so as to, among other things, prevent environmentally destructive practices by uneducated visitors. It, among other things, prohibits the importation and manufacture in Palau of reef-toxic sunscreens. It is hereby declared the policy of the government of the Republic of Palau to promote the development of a visitor industry in Palau consistent with the Palau Responsible Tourism Policy Framework and market Palau as a high-value tourism destination with a high quality tourism product, that envisions "Pristine Paradise Palau" and that is environmentally friendly. It is the responsibility of all visitor-oriented government and quasi-government agencies to assist and participate in the implementation of this policy, and to coordinate with the public and private sector businesses in furtherance of this policy.
