Résumé The aim of the present Act is to integrate renewable energy into the market reducing the costs of the so-called “energy turnaround” (Energiewende) in Germany. To accomplish this, the federal government limits the annual extension of renewable energy plants and implements a fundamental change to the statutory tariff structure. In the future, operators of renewable energy plants will receive the statutory feed-in tariff only in exceptional cases. Instead, the direct marketing of energy generated by renewable energy plants will be mandatory.
