Résumé This Regulation lays down rules for the administrative, judicial and military duties of the Turkish Coast Guard Command. The judicial duty of the Coast Guard Command is to act for committed offence as a general armed law enforcement force at seas in accordance with the Criminal Code. The military duties shall be determined by the Presidential Decree in times of mobilization and war. Furthermore, administrative duties of the Coast Guard Command are (I) to inspect all kinds of commercial and amateur fishing activities, (II) to monitor and inspect activities that may pollute the marine environment to prevent marine pollution, (III) to ensure safety and security at seas, (IV) to prevent unlicensed research or drilling and digging activities for the conservation of the cultural and natural properties at seas, (V) to take necessary measures against explosives and hazardous and suspicious materials and to inform relevant authorities in this regard, (VI) to inspect vessels operating in the field of sea tourism, including domestic and foreign yacht, (VII) to prevent all kinds of smuggling activities carried out by sea, (VIII) to conduct search and rescue activities within the Turkish Search and Rescue Region, in accordance with the national and international legislation, (IX) to monitor activities such as scientific research, exploration of hydrocarbon, drilling, installing cable and pipelines and fishing, (X) to prevent illegal activities at maritime jurisdiction areas, and (XI) to develop means and capabilities to pursue and monitor in view of maintaining maritime safety and security, (XII) to take measures for the ships carrying dangerous and hazardous cargo while passing through Turkish Straits.
