Résumé

The Regulation is made under the Commodities Act and implements the Community legislation on fishery products and bivalve mollusks, notably Council Directive 91/492 and Council directive 91/493. The Regulation prescribes rules relative to handling, processing and packing and placing on the market of fresh and treated fish products as defined in article 1. The handling, processing, preparation and storage of fish products in installations shall be carried out in hygienic manner having regard to the requirements set out in Schedule I and II (art. 4). Installations shall obtain recognition by the competent authority in accordance with article 5. Articles 6 to 6c concern control of critical points by the person responsible for the installation in accordance with specifications set out in Schedule XIV and report on such control. Fishery products shall meet standards set out in Schedule III, shall be packed in accordance with provisions of Schedule IV, shall be labeled in accordance with provisions set out in Schedule V and shall be transported and stored in accordance with provisions set out in Schedule VI (art. 8). Fishery products specified in article 9 shall not be placed on the market. Importation of fish requires an accompanying health certificate. Articles 11 to 20a concern the cleaning, handling and storage of bivalve mollusks. Article 14 provides for the recognition of cleaning facilities. Living bivalve mollusks shall meet standards set out in Schedule VIII, shall be packed in accordance with provisions of Schedule IX, shall be labeled in accordance with provisions set out in Schedule XII and shall be transported from dispatch centers in accordance with provisions set out in Schedule XI (art. 8). Article 19 sets standards for certain substances mentioned in Schedule VIII in bivalve mollusks. Article 20b and following concern snails, whereas article 20j and following concern frog legs. Schedule XVI specifies trade names.
