Résumé

This Regulation aims to contribute to sustainable energy and industrial production, by facilitating the exploitation of undersea reservoirs on the continental shelf for environmentally safe storage of CO2 as a measure to mitigate climate change. The Norwegian State has the proprietary right to subsea reservoirs on the continental shelf for such storing CO2 and exclusive right to the management thereof. When granting permission for exploration, the Minister of Environment shall appoint an operator to give permit for exploitation of undersea reservoir for storing CO₂or permission for installation and operation of facilities for transport of CO2. Exploration license shall allow to conduct geological, petrophysical, geophysical, geochemical and geotechnical activities. There can be made shallow drilling to a depth determined by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE) by applying particular types of surveys.
