Such coexistence shall be managed in compliance with the precautionary principle, in order to avoid risks to conventional crops, organic crops and spontaneous flora. With a view to ensuring that genetically modified seed are not mixed with other seeds, the measures established by article 4 shall be applied by farmers. Article 9 lays down penalties.
