Résumé

This Order validates the Regulation on the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution the Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute named after N.A. Avrorin of the Kola Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (located in Murmansk region) as protected natural area of federal significance, defines tasks, scientific profile, the particulars of legal status, organizational structure, applicable special protection regime as protected natural area of federal significance. The main purpose of Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution the Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute named after N.A. Avrorin of the Kola Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences shall be performance of fundamental, exploratory and applied scientific research in the field of botany, ecology, forestry, nature conservation. Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution the Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute named after N.A. Avrorin of the Kola Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences shall perform the following tasks: (a) comprehensive study of plant and soil resources in the Arctic with the purpose of solving problems of their rational use, enrichment and protection; (b) development of theoretical foundations for the introduction and acclimatization of plants in the North; (c) development of theoretical foundations of greenery and landscape design in the North, including specialized educational, recreational and rehabilitation forms; (d) development of phytorehabilitation technology based on phyto-ecological and garden therapy; (e) development of technology for decorative and agricultural crop production, including biological plant protection in the North; (f) preservation of the diversity of native flora and introduced plants in northern conditions; (g) studying the mechanisms of stress and adaptation of plants and other components biota in northern conditions, including under anthropogenic impact on environment; (h) study of the genesis of northern soils, development of theoretical foundations for increasing their fertility; and (i) a comprehensive study of the sustainable interaction of biotic components of ecosystems in specific conditions of high latitudes.
