Résumé This Act provides a comprehensive and collaborative focus on all matters relating to the environment, conservation, energy policy, and climate change, including through a unified approach to implementing and adjusting the existing and future relevant laws, regulations and policies, and a dedicated structure to address climate change through increasing resilience to its adverse impacts as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This Act lays down provisions on the establishment, composition and functions of the Ministry of Environment; establishment and functions of the Climate Change Directorate and the National Council on the Environment; reporting on adaptation and mitigation measures, including greenhouse gas inventories and progress towards any of the international or domestic commitments or measures to reduce or address greenhouse gas emissions and reduce vulnerability to climatic effects; and the development of appropriate guidance, best practices and input for climate-proofing non-public and private infrastructure and construction.
