The Ministerial Decree has entered into force on 25 February 1998.
Résumé

The present Ministerial Decree provides for the creation of the marine protected area "Isole di Ventotene e Santo Stefano" with a view to achieving the following purposes: (a) environmental protection; (b) conservation of biological resources; (c) promotion and development of educational and scientific activities. The marine area is delineated by the line joining the points referred to in article 2 of the Decree, including the coastal territories comprised in the maritime domain. The area is further subdivided into Zones A, B and C in which certain activities (such as sport and professional fishing, navigation, capture of animal species, gathering of plants, introduction of animal and plant species other than autochthonous) are prohibited.
