The amendment introduces new provisions on the administration and regulation of the maritime sector, the registration of domestic and foreign ships, the application and enforcement of international maritime conventions, the limitation of liability for cargo carried on government ships, and the penalties for offences under the Act. The text also repeals and replaces some sections and schedules of the original Act, and makes consequential amendments to other laws related to harbours and marine pollution.
