Résumé

Pursuant to article 9 of the Environment Protection Act, the species of marine mammals listed in the Schedule hereby attached are declared to be protected marine mammal species. Subsequently, no person shall, directly or indirectly, pursue, take or attempt to take, maltreat or attempt to maltreat, kill or attempt to kill, possess, sell by any method, buy, exchange, reintroduce, import or export any specimen of such species. Any marine mammal accidentally caught during normal fishing activities shall be immediately released. Particular permits may be issued by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority for scientific studies or educational purposes, under the conditions prescribed by Regulation 7. Regulation 10 sets out the penalties to be applied in case of violation of these Regulations.
