To this end, this Code sets out 24 key standards and operating practices, including standards on watercourses, minimum buffer zone width, waste management. According to this Code, selection logging in PNG may be practiced in forest areas which are not excluded by the following criteria: (I) slopes steeper than 30 degrees, (II) in areas of high relief on slopes steeper than an average of 25 degrees, (III) permanently inundated land, (IV) limestone country (karst), and (V) mangroves.
